Is Main Event going to be 3D? Our plans for the future

We get a lot of questions about the visual style of Main Event: Wrestling Manager, with good reason.

Main Event aspires to be a modern take on wrestling booker simulation as a genre. Our goal is to bring together the complex simulation features from titles such as Total Extreme Wrestling and Extreme Warfare Revenge, and the visually immersive design and gameplay from franchises like Football Manager and the WWE 2K series.

In order to accomplish this feat, we’ve attempted to incorporate a modern UI design to the game to nicely present a simple-at-first experience, with the ability to delve deeper into the nitty-gritty if the player wants that extra level of customisation.

On our social media, we’ve also been showing off some beautiful visuals of 3D aspects of Main Event. Including arena designs, props, and gameplay mechanics.

Our goal for Main Event is to provide a simulation similar to that of watching a TV broadcast of your favourite wrestling show. To do this, we have to take advantage of realistic camera movement, lighting, virtual camera lenses, post processing, cinematography, and editing. That’s not even including what the cameras are looking at.

As part of our Patreon Goals, we mentioned that we want to include a full 3D creation suite, as well as investing in motion-capture animation with our group of talented industry professionals. Please rest assured, this is still the plan.

We want to push the boundaries in the genre, and in order to do that, we need some funds in our pocket. Whilst the business side of Chartist Games makes every effort to bring funding to the project, and we look at options such as Patreon or Kickstarter, we continue to develop Main Event with these features in mind, although they may not be present at first.

Currently, before we can implement these 3D elements to Main Event: Wrestling Manager, we need to either hit our funding goal to invest in motion capture and appropriate software, or invest once we’ve hit our required sales target.

With this being said, it is our current plan to make Main Event: Wrestling Manager a 3D wrestling booking simulator. However, that may not happen right away. Or it might. Only time will tell!

In the meantime, feel free to subscribe to our Patreon for as little as £3 a month, and don’t forget to wishlist us on Steam!
